AD Ports Group, an expert in trade, transportation and logistics solutions, has inked a 50-year renewable use agreement with Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone.

More specifically, the agreement will build and run a 20 km² industrial and logistics park close to the Mediterranean Sea city of Port Said in Egypt.

Phase-by-Phase Development Overview

Phase 1 of the industrial and logistics zone, which will span 2.8 km2, will be the primary focus of AD Ports Group's phase-by-phase development, construction, financing, operation, and management.

Additionally, over the next three years, an estimated $120 million will be spent on phase 1 development, technical and market research, and other activities. By the end of this year, work is anticipated to begin on the first phase, which will cover 2.8 km².

According to AD Ports, Hassan Allam Holding, one of the leading construction and development companies in the area, will serve as a key client and partner for the development of

phase 1.

The company says the East Port Said Industrial Zone offers a chance to transform a special spot on the Mediterranean Sea into a major international trade and investment hub that serves the East-West trade routes, right at the Suez Canal's entrance.

Besides, a memorandum of understanding was signed by AD Ports Group and Hassan Allam Holding, one of the Group's development partners in Egypt, to develop and invest in the industrial zone as well as investigate other projects.

Bolstering UAE-Egyptian Economic Relations

In December, AD Ports Group selected Hassan Allam Construction, the construction division of Hassan Allam Holding, to construct the new multipurpose cargo terminal in Safaga, on the Red Sea coast of Egypt.

Furthermore, with the acquisition of Transmar, a regional shipping company, TCI, a port operator and stevedoring company, and Safina B.V., a provider of maritime agency and cargo services, in 2024, AD Ports Group has made significant investments in Egypt since 2022.

The Group owns 34 terminals, a maritime fleet of 247 ships, and more than 550 km² of industrial and commercial land.

Maritime Training Courses cover various topics, notably port operations and terminal management, shipping, logistics, and supply chain management. These courses are available at varying educational levels and programmes.

In the long haul, managing director and group CEO of AD Ports Group, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi stated, “KEZAD East Port Said is a milestone that highlights the strong economic relations between the UAE and Egypt.”

He added, “this infrastructure investment will provide a long-

term source of economic growth for Egypt while enhancing the Suez Canal's role in promoting and supporting the East-West trade corridor.”
