We at London Maritime Academy are proud to announce that The Nautical Institute and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) have jointly awarded the Academy the prestigious Certificate of Excellence for its London-based activities.
This accreditation is undoubtedly one of the highest and most prestigious quality certifications in the maritime education sector worldwide, awarded only to institutions that demonstrate exceptional excellence in the quality of their training programmes, student care, and academic innovation.
Of course, the Nautical Institute is one of the world’s leading and most trusted authorities in the maritime and training sector, setting high standards for education and international accreditation, while IMarEST stands as the global professional body for marine engineers, scientists, and technologists, advancing knowledge and excellence across the industry.
So, our official and recognised accreditation from these institutions reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence and positions the Academy among the top maritime training centers internationally.
Naturally, as part of the accreditation process, a group of experts in the maritime field from The Nautical Institute, led by Captain John Lloyd, conducted a site visit to our Academy.
Our team was fully committed to submitting extensive evidence to support the accreditation process.
During the visit, the maritime experts met with the academy's management and discussed the training programmes, practical activities, and diverse course delivery methods we offer to trainees.
In addition to their commendations, the team also highlighted the unique advantage of London's historic and geographical position, noting that "being based in a city that has long been at the heart of global shipping trade gives London Maritime Academy a natural and enduring connection to maritime excellence and international influence."
This observation underscores the importance of our academy's strategic location, which allows our trainees to integrate into the global maritime transport market from the very first day of their education.
We underwent a rigorous and transparent evaluation process, during which we submitted a range of documents, evidence, and case studies demonstrating the academy's commitment to quality standards and continuous improvement procedures, while the maritime audit experts placed particular emphasis on key quality areas—the quality of teaching, the quality of learning, and the robustness of our quality assurance systems—in addition to reviewing our training plans and the level of care provided to our trainees.
These aspects collectively highlighted the strength of our management and its unwavering support for the entire educational process.
