Kuwait has secured a significant engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) for the first phase of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project on Boubyan Island.
Remarkably, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Public Works and CCCC inked a contract worth 1.219 billion Kuwaiti dinars, or almost $4.1 billion.
The agreement addresses the construction of the strategic port's initial phase in the Jahra Governorate of northern Kuwait.
Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister of Kuwait, senior cabinet members, representatives from Chinese companies, and the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait attended the signing event.
The project, according to the Prime Minister, demonstrates the close relationship between Kuwait and China, which is based on enduring political confidence and long-standing historical foundations. He continued by saying that the two nations' strategic alliance is producing more and more robust cooperation.
Officials from the Chinese Embassy stated that the signing is a crucial step in carrying out bilateral cooperation agreements between the two nations, according to third-party reports of comments made during the ceremony.
Additionally, the project was defined as fostering high-quality collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative and helping Kuwait's long-term development goals and ambitions for economic diversification.
The Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port will be the company's first port project in the Middle East to be partially constructed in accordance with Chinese standards from the start, according to CCCC.
Maritime Training Online Courses encompass integrated port lifecycle management, covering areas such as maritime and civil engineering, project management, logistics, contract law, and risk management. Key topics include supply chain management, risk reduction, port infrastructure design, and complex contract administration for significant maritime projects.

According to a senior executive who reported on the company's remarks, the project will use CCCC's technical and technological know-how and is anticipated to serve as an example of China-Kuwait collaboration.
The Central Agency for Public Tenders in Kuwait approved the arrangement earlier this month. According to the Ministry of Public Works, the EPC contract is specifically related to the initial stage of port building.
One of the key components of Kuwait's strategy to become a hub for regional trade and logistics is Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port. The port aims to improve Kuwait's standing in regional and global supply chains and establish a safe commercial route.
Furthermore, it is a showpiece infrastructure project under Kuwait Vision 2035, which seeks to diversify the country's economy and lessen dependency on hydrocarbons. In the past, China has indicated interest in connecting the port to its Belt and Road Initiative.
Ultimately, the port is anticipated to enhance Kuwait's maritime trading capacity, boost long-term economic growth, and improve trade linkages once it is open.
